Hi Warren, thanks for holding — this is Priya Patel from the Aegis support team, I'm the team lead on the compliance side of things. How are you doing today?
- Warren BeckCustomer0:19turn 1ASR 96%
Priya! Yeah, doing well, doing well. Thanks for jumping on this — I know it's a bit of an unusual support case, but we're pretty excited about where this could go.
+1Warren says he's 'pretty excited' about where the case could go. · other
- Priya PatelAegisCloud0:32turn 2ASR 88%
Absolutely, no that's — unusual is fine, we love those. So I've got the case here, case number 8811, and it looks like you're coming in with a feature request around custom compliance templates in Aegis Comply. Is that the right starting point?
- Warren BeckCustomer0:48turn 3ASR 88%
That's exactly it. So, you know, we upgraded to Comply v2 — gosh, what was it, like mid-April? — and honestly the on-demand reporting has been phenomenal. The SOC 2 and the PCI DSS reports especially, our audit team is basically over the moon.
+2Praises on-demand reporting as 'phenomenal' and audit team as 'over the moon'. · compliance reporting
- Priya PatelAegisCloud1:04turn 4ASR 93%
Oh that's great to hear, we launched v2 on April 7th so yeah you're right around that mark. And yeah the on-demand piece was a big lift for our engineering team so I'm glad it's landing well.
- Warren BeckCustomer1:18turn 5ASR 95%
Yeah it really has. But here's the thing — we're a financial services firm, right, so on top of the standard frameworks we've got some internal control requirements. Blackridge-specific stuff that our board and our regulators kind of expect us to track. And I'm wondering if there's any way to build a custom template inside Comply that maps to those internal controls.
- Priya PatelAegisCloud1:40turn 6ASR 96%
Right, so like a bespoke framework essentially — where you define the control categories, the evidence requirements, all of that, rather than using one of the out-of-the-box frameworks we ship with.
- Warren BeckCustomer1:52turn 7ASR 90%
Exactly, yeah. We're not trying to replace SOC 2 or anything like that, we still need those. But we want something that can sit alongside them. Like maybe a Blackridge Internal Controls Report — something I can hand to our board quarterly.
- Priya PatelAegisCloud2:08turn 8ASR 89%
That makes total sense, and honestly Warren this is something we've been hearing from a few of our enterprise customers, particularly on the financial services side. So you're definitely not alone in wanting this.
- Warren BeckCustomer2:20turn 9ASR 88%
Oh good, good. So is it — I mean, is this something that's on the roadmap, or is it more of a, uh, submit-your-feedback-and-we'll-see kind of situation?
- Priya PatelAegisCloud2:31turn 10ASR 93%
So I want to be transparent with you — it's not in the current GA release of v2, what you have today is the four supported frameworks. But it is something that our product team has been actively scoping. I don't want to give you a hard date because I genuinely don't have one, but it is on the near-term roadmap.
- Warren BeckCustomer2:54turn 11ASR 94%
Okay, okay that's actually more encouraging than I expected to be honest.
+1Warren says the roadmap news is 'more encouraging than I expected'. · product capability
- Priya PatelAegisCloud2:59turn 12ASR 93%
Ha, well I'll take that! And look, what I can do — and this is something I'd really encourage — is I can formally log this as a feature request with the product team and tag it with your account specifically. That kind of direct customer attribution actually does carry weight internally when they're prioritizing.
- Warren BeckCustomer3:19turn 13ASR 94%
Yeah, please do that. And if there's any way to like, loop me in with the product team directly — even just a call — I'd be happy to walk them through our specific use case. Sometimes I find those conversations go a long way.
- Priya PatelAegisCloud3:36turn 14ASR 89%
A hundred percent, and that's actually something I can set up. We have a customer advisory track where we bring in, um, customers who are willing to provide detailed requirements and potentially participate in early access. You'd be a perfect fit for that honestly.
- Warren BeckCustomer3:52turn 15ASR 91%
Early access — okay yeah, I like where this is going. So would that mean we could potentially get access to a beta version of custom templates before it goes GA?
+1Warren says 'I like where this is going' regarding early access. · product capability
- Priya PatelAegisCloud4:03turn 16ASR 89%
That's the idea, yeah. Obviously it depends on how the scoping shakes out and your environment, but typically the way our early access program works is we identify a handful of design partners, you get preview builds, you provide feedback, and in exchange you get the feature earlier and you get to shape it. So it's kind of a win-win.
- Warren BeckCustomer4:25turn 17ASR 97%
I mean that sounds — yeah, that sounds excellent. What do I need to do to opt into that?
+1Warren calls the early access offer 'excellent'. · product capability
- Priya PatelAegisCloud4:34turn 18ASR 95%
So I'll send you a follow-up email after this call with a short intake form — it's not long, maybe ten minutes to fill out. It covers your use case, the types of controls you'd want to define, your reporting cadence, stuff like that. And then I'll flag your account to our product liaison and they'll reach out to schedule that conversation.
- Warren BeckCustomer4:56turn 19ASR 90%
Perfect. And in the meantime, is there anything within what we have today that could serve as like a stopgap? Even something manual or a workaround?
- Priya PatelAegisCloud5:06turn 20ASR 91%
Yeah, actually — so this isn't perfect but there are a couple of things. One is that within the existing framework reports, you can add custom control annotations and notes to individual line items. So if some of your internal controls map partially to SOC 2 criteria you could tag those. It's not a standalone report but it does let you document against those controls.
- Warren BeckCustomer5:30turn 21ASR 95%
Oh I didn't know that — the annotation piece. Where does that live in the UI?
- Priya PatelAegisCloud5:37turn 22ASR 94%
So if you go into a report — let's say your SOC 2 report — and you open any individual control item, there's a little edit icon on the right side of the control row. You can add a custom note there, and it actually gets included in the exported PDF. It's subtle but it's there.
- Warren BeckCustomer5:57turn 23ASR 95%
Huh. Okay that's — yeah I'm going to look at that this afternoon actually. That might buy us some time until the custom template feature is available.
- Priya PatelAegisCloud6:07turn 24ASR 95%
Yeah exactly, and the other thing — if you want to get really creative — you could export the report data via our API and pipe it into whatever internal reporting tool your board uses. Our Comply v2 API docs have the endpoint for pulling structured control data. Might be worth a look if your team has some dev bandwidth.
- Warren BeckCustomer6:28turn 25ASR 96%
We do have an internal data team, yeah. I'll rope them in on that. That could actually be really useful even beyond the compliance reporting — we pull a lot of our security data into our internal dashboards.
+1Warren finds the API possibility 'really useful' beyond compliance. · product capability
- Priya PatelAegisCloud6:43turn 26ASR 95%
Yeah totally, and once custom templates do ship, you'd presumably be able to pull those through the API too so it's all kind of additive.
- Warren BeckCustomer6:53turn 27ASR 90%
Right, right. That's a good point. Okay so — to summarize where we landed: you're going to log the feature request, send me the intake form for the early access program, and I should look at the annotation feature and potentially the API. Is that right?
- Priya PatelAegisCloud7:11turn 28ASR 96%
That's exactly right, yeah. And I'll also include links to the API docs in that follow-up email so you don't have to go hunting for them.
- Warren BeckCustomer7:20turn 29ASR 89%
Awesome. Priya this has been genuinely one of the more productive support calls I've had in a while — usually I call support expecting to be told no, so, you know, this is a nice change.
+2Warren says it was 'genuinely one of the more productive support calls' and a nice change from being told no. · support experience
- Priya PatelAegisCloud7:34turn 30ASR 93%
Ha! Well I'm really glad. And honestly your use case is compelling — I think the product team is going to want to hear from you. I'll make sure to flag this as a priority when I write it up.
- Warren BeckCustomer7:49turn 31ASR 93%
I appreciate that. And yeah, feel free to have them reach out directly — my calendar's usually pretty open in the mornings.
- Priya PatelAegisCloud7:58turn 32ASR 88%
Will do, I'll pass that along. Alright Warren, I think we've covered everything on case 8811. I'll get that email out to you within the hour. Is there anything else before I let you go?
- Warren BeckCustomer8:11turn 33ASR 97%
Nope, I think we're good. Thanks again Priya, really appreciate it.
